What is covered

  • Owners and caregivers

    We cover the owner, non-professional caregivers, other riders, riding partners and family members.

  • Occasional professional use

    Occasional, non-primary use as a therapy dog/horse, rescue dog, search dog or guard dog is also covered up to certain revenue limits.

  • Damage while walked by third parties

    If a friend or family member walks your dog and it causes damage, they are also covered, except for professional dog sitters.

What is not covered

  • Cats and small animals

    This policy exclusively covers dogs and horses; damage caused by cats or other small animals is covered by private liability insurance.

  • Own damage

    Damage to your own property or injuries to yourself or your family are not covered.

  • Intentional damage

    We do not cover damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence.

  • Ongoing commercial use

    Continuous (non-occasional) commercial use of the animal can only be insured together with the corresponding business risk.

  • Hunting dogs

    If you need to insure your hunting dog, take out our hunting liability insurance instead.

Yes, even without a leash or muzzle, you are covered up to the contracted coverage sum.

Are puppies and foals covered?

Yes, damage caused by puppies or foals you own is covered up to twelve months of age.

Is this insurance mandatory?

There is no general obligation, but it is mandatory for dogs in many German regions, and for certain breeds elsewhere. We recommend taking it out regardless, since liability is unlimited.
